Used for vanity, costumes, or to hide embarrassing hair conditions, wigs have survived the tests of time and continue to be patronized to this day. Made with synthetic hair, real human hair, or even untouched and untreated virgin human hair, wigs have changed just as much as other fashion accessories have. 

Tips on Choosing Your Type of Hair Extension

When done right, hair extensions can be an excellent way to accessorize your crowning glory. To get the perfect look for you, there are many things that you need to consider such as the texture of your original hair and its color.

First, determine which style would best suit your hair—Brazilian, Peruvian, or European. If you have curly hair, then choose an extension that will easily match it. If, on the other hand, you have straight hair, pick an extension that you can easily style so you can try different looks.

Next, think about your hair color and determine which hues compliment it. You might want to make your extension resemble your hair color as closely as possible. This makes it look very natural and not at all like a wig. If you want different colors however, opt for a highlighted one instead, using subtle colors that will not draw too much attention to the extension.

Length is another important factor to consider, and comfort plays a large role here as much as aesthetics. If you are accustomed to wearing it short but want a long extension for a change, you may want a length that's between short and very long. This way the transition wouldn't be too much.
